In a show of strength, mother Michelle Dosso spoke out Sunday at her Church in Southwest Philadelphia, urging everyone to get smoke detectors. An effort to prevent more deaths. Just this Friday her three children (ages 8, 6, and 1) were killed in a fire at their home. “Get some smoke detectors, get some fire extinguishers. The fire houses is willing to give these items for free, so get it done!" Dosso said. – Kristen Welker, NBCPhiladelphia.com, December 29, 2008
President-elect Obama started his career by serving Chicago communities struggling with tough economic times. He saw what could be achieved when ordinary people organized and worked together -- and that idea was at the core of this campaign.
You've seen the power people can have when they make a commitment to serving others.
Now, you can help launch this administration in the same spirit that got us here.
On Inauguration Day, President-elect Obama will call for a renewed commitment to national service to take on the challenges our country faces. You can help lead the way by joining your fellow supporters across the country.
